Biologist Expelled from Ben Stein’s “Expelled”

Expelled: No Intelligence AllowedPZ Meyers, a Biologist from the University of Minnesota, Morris, recently tried to attend a screening of the Creationist film Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed, but was himself expelled.

A policeman came to tell him that he must leave the premises, that the producers had singled him out, as someone who might apparently disrupt (read: disagree) with the hackneyed, propagandist drivel presented by the film. Yes, this middle-aged, balding professor probably would’ve set the theater on fire.

If you ask me, though, I think the policeman was mistaken. I think the producer pointed to the man next to Meyers — the man who was allowed to see the film, clearly by accident. Which man, you ask? Why none other than the enormously famous atheist biologist and writer Richard Dawkins, that’s who.

You simply must read Meyers’ personal blog on the subject, written giddily from a Mac Store while his family, and Richard Dawkins, saw the horrible movie without incident.

For those of you who are lucky enough to have never heard of Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed, I will explain it to you.

It’s a film, supported by America’s favorite partisan celebrity Ben Stein, all about how our society is rotten to the core because the “theory” of Intelligent Design isn’t taught, as a rule, alongside the theory of Evolution in America’s science classrooms.

What it also tries to do, by the way, is convince you that Evolution was responsible for the rise of Nazi Germany, and that it remains responsible for most of society’s modern ills. Why? Because it killed God, apparently. One would think that the hyper-capitalist Ben Stein would be familiar with the benefits and reason behind “survival of the fittest,” (aka Free Market Capitalism), but apparently it’s not the same when we’re talking about frogs and toads.

No, when it comes to frogs and toads, there is no other explanation than the fact that “God” created them in a day. “God” could not have even created them through the process of evolution — no, that line of thought is not welcome in Stein’s “free and open” views on education and society.
